Recap

Sunday: Knitted up a test patch with some of my new horrible acrylic. I managed to make the Chevron pattern from the Yarn Bombing book, and it looks pretty good.

Monday: Sewed in the ends on The Scarf. I also promised my mother that I'd add a fringe to it. Sigh...

Tonight: Made my first attempt at bobbles! They are pretty tricky to understand just out of a book, and the first row of them turned out pretty loose, but I think I'll do better next time.

And now to bed, as I very sadly start classes tomorrow morning. Ick.

DONE

DONE DONE DONE DONE

DONE

WITH THE SCARF FROM HELL

Minus sewing in the ends or putting on the fringe, but whatever, not important. What is important is that

I AM DONE.

Just in case you forgot

I hate this scarf. I worked on it for about 2 hours today, before the internet mercifully distracted me. I've finished like 3 inches? It makes me want to cry.

In other news I went out today and got TWO DOLLAR YARN from Michael's. I love sales. Its the most horrible acrylic money can buy, and of a dubious color scheme, but its perfect for yarn bombing. I am excited!!!

Plans

Last night I taught a friend to knit, and, more importantly, that one should never knit entirely sober. Today we put that into practice by knitting together whilst hyped up on lattes. She caught on ridiculously quickly, and seemed easily swayed really into the idea of beautifying our lovely town!

To that end we went out and measured the bike racks and parking meters downtown for our first yarn bombing endeavors, and also made this empty blog to chronicle them! Exciting!

Then I went home and pretended to knit some more of this Damned Scarf. Ugh. Only 1 ball of yarn left!

Yarn bombs and The Return of The Scarf

So, I just picked The Scarf (of death, of doom, etc) back up and I can remember why I hated it so much. So many tiny little seed stitches. Ugh.

Anyways, I got a Yarn Bombing book today and have decided that sprucing up my home town with some lovely knits is going to be one of my resolutions. I in the process of coercing a few friends of mine into helping out, so if you're in the Gainesville, Florida area and want to help out let me know!

Hello there, Internet

Today and yesterday have been knitting days. My hat for my mother is about 6 inches long, so I'm halfway there! I'm using it as a bit of a break from The Scarf  (from hell), which is about 2 feet long and makes me want to cry when I think about it. It is in seed stitch and I fear I will never be rid of it. Of course, I need to be rid of it within the next two month. My due dates are Christmas for the hat and January 25th (my mother's birthday) for the scarf. Meanwhile, I have several other ongoing projects that I have to make progress on. Needless to say, I am not optimistic about the scarf, but afterwards I am looking forward to a rather long break from knitting.

As it is a 5 day break for me from most school and work and volunteering nonsense, I really want to get work done on these projects. I really want to get to the craft store and the hardware store and get supplies for my other projects (right now an ambitious make over for my dresser inspired by this and some simple string pendant lamps) but unfortunately it is Black Friday and you would have to pay me to enter any building having to do with retail.

So tomorrow (which I feel like I'm always saying), I will hopefully get to Michael's and to Home Depot and get some very necessary supplies- namely paint, wood trim, light fixtures and ROUND balloons. I am on pack number 3 of balloons, each a different brand, and so far they have all been various versions of oblong. At this point I'm not sure if its the balloons that are failing me or if I'm somehow blowing them up wrong? Is that possible? For now I am blaming the balloons. Anyways, I am hoping that Michaels or some sort of party supply store will carry proper balloons, or at least someone there can tell me what on earth I am doing wrong. I will not have misshapen pendant lamps, dammit!
